River's Rodents and Reptiles is a Community Interest Company meaning it is a non-profit organisation.

The Community Interest Company aims to benefit the community by -

  • Support the provision of Animal Handling Sessions to individuals and community groups.

    • By supporting people of all ages in meeting animals they would not normally meet, whilst also promoting sensory development.

  • Help people of all ages to improve health and well-being through promoting sensory development.

    • Stroking and interacting with animals lowers stress, heart rate and promotes a sense of calm.

  • Advance community awareness of Animal Welfare.

    • Learning about Animal Welfare, which in turn allows people to be more aware of Animal Care.

  • To develop and deliver training and learning programs in the care and understanding of animals to individuals, community groups and organisations.

    • By increasing personal and collective knowledge of Animal Care, Animal Diets, Habitats, and Anatomy and Physiology. Clear learning outcomes for schools studying animals.

  • To be financially accessible to individuals, community groups and organisations on low income and low budgets for activities.

    • Clear fixed fee for Animal Handling Sessions. Special offers for repeat business and free to attend Fundraising Events.

River has studied animals for 7 years. He has a National Diploma in Animal Care from Hartpury College, a Higher National Diploma in Animal Management from Berkshire College of Agriculture, a First Class Degree with Honours in Animal Management from Hadlow College and a Post-Graduate Degree in Animal Welfare from Moulton College. He is passionate about animals and enjoys sharing entertaining facts about his animals - with the odd cheesy joke!

River set up this business in March 2017 as a hobby business alongside working in hospitality. Over the lockdowns the Online Animal Sessions took off and allowed River to convert a old Horsebox into a Animal Unit. The business is now a fully fledged entity and is getting new bookings flying in every day!

Animal Activities Licence from Swale Council - 21/500242/PERFOR valid from from 1/6/21 to 31/5/24

  • What age groups can attend?
Ages 3 and above can touch the animals with River's supervision, ages 5 and above can touch and hold the animals with River's supervision. Under 3 years old must be sat with an adult. The Animal Handling Session is accessible to all ages from 3 to 101.
  • How do we pay?
Once booked in we will email you the Booking Confirmation and Invoice with payment details on. You can pay via BACS, PayPal, Cash or Cheque. Birthday Parties are required to pay a £10 deposit to secure the booking and the remaining balance can be paid on the day.
  • What Animals are included?
There is a Blue Tongue Skink Lizard, Corn Snake, Tortoise, Rat and Guinea Pig. We are not looking to expand the collection as audiences like to see the animals again and also there is still so many more people to meet. The animals are rodents and reptiles, so there are no invertebrate like Tarantulas!
  • How many participants can attend?
My Public Liability Insurance covers up to 30 participants, not including the supervising adults. To get the most out of the Animal Handling Session most people invite 15 to 20 participants along.
